Nicole deBoer as Ezri Dax, Part Two

Ezri

Season seven included one of my favorite episodes of all time, Take Me Out to the Holosuite. Mind you, I'm not a baseball fan by any means. Still, I was able to appreciate this episode greatly, just as I appreciated the baseball episode of WKRP in Cincinnati.

This wasn't one of their most dramatic episodes, and maybe not one of their best. However, I liked the change of pace and the dynamic that this brought out in the DS9 team. It was also an opportunity to gain some insight into Ezri Dax, and to show that she had truly become part of the team, so to speak.

And doggone it, it was just a fun episode.

I mentioned that Nicole deBoer brought a certain expressiveness to this role—an expressiveness which the lovely Ms. Farrell didn't quite have. I liked the way she conveyed subtle moods through the expressions in her face, as show here. Sadly, these still photos aren't enough to show you what I'm talking about. If you get a chance to watch the last-season episodes of DS9, keep an eye out for her facial expressions, and maybe you'll see what I mean.

I'm no great judge of thespian skills, but darn it, I like the way she acts. She can be expressive without overdoing it.
