I never thought it would happen, but it did... Riptide was released on DVD! This show suffered in the ratings, thanks to the Moonlighting threat, and I figured that not many people remembered it. However, the first season was indeed released recently, to my great joy. |

And guess who I saw in the pilot episode? Marla Heasley! The woman who starred for a brief period as the fourth wheel on The A-Team. The gal who replaced Melinda Culea, albeit unsuccessfully. Still, it was nice to see her. In her first appearance on The A-Team, Marla played a bathing beauty on some boat. Well, guess what? She played essentially the same role in the Riptide pilot. It should come as no surprise that both shows were created by Frank Lupo and Stephen J. Cannell. I guess these guys had no qualms about drawing from the same well twice! |

It's by no means the only occasion on which Cannell and Lupo dipped into the same pool. Jack Ging had a recurring role on both shows, after all. How did she do? As well as could be expected, I guess. As well as anyone could do with a meager role. |
